WBLL Tryouts Schedule

Location: Tahanto Regional Middle/High School (main gym) - 1001 Main Street, Boylston MA 01505

Keep in mind, these are NOT tryouts in order to make a team in our league. These "tryouts" are essentially skills evaluations to get a better feel for the talent level for each of the players so we can divide the teams up evenly. ALL "league age" 9-12 year olds will be placed onto Majors or AAA teams in our league!

Remember, you cannot tryout unless you are registered for this upcoming season. Please register your child first. It is required for all "league age" 9-12 year olds to attend one (of two) of the tryouts. We ask to attend only one tryout unless you are a league age 8 or 10 (see below) seeking to move up a division. This is due to the large registration numbers this year.

"League age" 10 year olds, if advanced, may be selected by coaches to move up to the Majors division after player tryouts. 10's seeking to move up to the Majors division are encouraged to attend both tryout sessions.
"League age" 8 year olds were required to sign up for AA Coach Pitch during registration. 8's who wish to be considered to play in the AAA Player Pitch division may tryout for the potential to be moved up to the AAA division. Please attend the 8-9 year old sessions of the tryouts. For these 8's, both sessions are encouraged so coaches can get a comfortable feel for the player's talent level prior to selecting the advanced 8's who will move up to AAA this year.

Managers and league Player Agents have the final say for player movement into higher divisions.

What to Bring and Expect

What To Bring: Bring your glove, helmet, bat and sneakers (no cleats!). If you do not have a bat or helmet there will be extra available.

What To Expect: Players will be divided into several groups and will rotate through stations performing different skills such as fielding, throwing, pitching and hitting. Please note that parents will not be allowed inside the evaluation area.

Why Hold Skills Evaluation Tryouts?: Each year "league age" 9-12 year old players must attend Skills Evaluation Tryouts in order to be drafted onto a Majors or AAA team. Skills Evaluations are used by West Boylston/Boylston/Berlin Little Leagues (and all other Little Leagues) to help the team managers draft balanced teams for the upcoming season. Equal competitive play is important and vital to a successful baseball season.
